Activities on the dayOn September 3, Humane Society Calumet Area’s Moraine Ridge Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (MRWRC) will honor one of the most misunderstood creatures, the vulture. Held on International Vulture Awareness Day, MRWRC will host an educational program from noon to 3 p.m. in celebration of the vulture and the important role the species plays in the health of the local environment. This educational program will feature presentations held at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., informational booths and activities and crafts for all ages at the center, located at 570 N. 450 E., Valparaiso, Ind. Attendees can learn about the natural history of the local wildlife clean-up crew and why vultures are so crucial to the health of the local environment.
